Baby Blues

No Nudity

Review

The recipe: One married couple. Make sure one works hard and gets paid not enough, the other stays home and looks after the kid. Add one kid. Add a smattering of next door neighbors who are way too loud and obnoxious. Throw in a babysitter who goes on more dates than Kelly Bundy, animate the whole thing, mix, consume. Congratulations, you’ve just swallowed Baby Blues, a cartoon sitcom that got exactly what it deserved when it was canned and killed five episodes into its second season. Starring Julia Sweeney, better know to SNL viewers as “Pat”, is there any other reason needed to despise this project? Begone with you, Sweeney woman! Back to Beethoven sequels and Rodney Dangerfield movies for you! A thousand lashes for the lost hours watching It’s Pat! and associated SNL sketches of the same name. Based on the Baby Blues cartoon strip, the producers decided to add characters, mess with timelines and essentially screw up a tried and tested formula that had attracted them in the first place. Elizabeth Daily provides one of the voices and she’s hot. The rest of the voice cast are all working on Rugrats, which is just more reason to despise them all.
