Awake (2007)

The super-freaky phenomenon of "anesthetic awareness"—waking up in the middle of surgery but being unable to move or alert anyone—is the subject of Awake (2007), first-timer writer-director Joby Harold's super-freaky thriller. Hayden Christensen needs a heart transplant, so he goes under the knife. But it's only seconds after the operation's begun that he comes out from under anesthesia . . . and overhears things he was never meant to hear. It turns out that the whole procedure is meant to fail. Hayden's the scion of moneybags bankers, and his death would mean big bucks to a bunch of real crooks. While he's busy with his agony, wifey Jessica Alba waits anxiously (and, as always, sexily, though she bares no naked booty). Terrence Howard, Christopher McDonald, and Lena Olin also star in this flick that's sure to do wonders for the medical industry.
