This day in 1977 saw the release of major-studio sexfest First Love, directed by Joan Darling, who had previously helmed TV shows like Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman, and featuring nudity from former Partridge Family fox and future LA Law babe Susan Dey and the impossibly sultry Bevery D’Angelo.

This day in 1978 saw the release of the most notorious grindhouse flick of all time: I Spit on Your Grave, aka Day of the Woman.

Inspired by the director’s experience helping a rape victim in New York, I Spit on Your Grave stars silent film star Buster Keaton’s grand-niece Camille Keaton as a writer who is secluding herself in a cabin in the woods when a four men brutally attack her and tear up her manuscript.

After she recovers, the victim takes her revenge by hunting down and killing her attackers, hanging one, castrating one in a hot tub, killing another with an axe, and disemboweling the last with the propeller of a motorboat.

Blake Edwards’s 10, a true classic of the sex comedy genre and a cultural milestone, finally got an official DVD release on this day in 2004.

Anyone who was alive at the time and not in a coma will remember 10 as the first time the t&a of iconic babe Bo Derek graced the screen. With her braids, and her titular body type, Bo steals the show.

Larry Flynt’s life and career are the stuff of legend, most of it recounted in the movie, which stars Woody Harrelson and Courtney Love.

Writer-director Michael Crichton’s Looker initially tanked at the box office but, courtesy of the early 1980s boom in cable TV and home video, this sex-drenched, PG-rated sci-fi parable ultimately evolved into a cult classic.
