Aprilkinder (1999)

The title Aprilkinder (1999) refers to the children of the Turkish guest workers who work in Germany throughout the year then return to Turkey every summer, where they sire their children, who are later born in April. The story revolves around one such offspring, Cem, and his brother and sister, each of whom is trying cope with being outside the German mainstream. Cem wants to assimilate and follows the straight-and-narrow path at a local sausage factory. His brother, meanwhile, turns to crime. Their sister hopes marriage will be her ticket out. This is a gripping and sometimes grim look at the German immigrant experience. Inga Busch displays a sprightly set of succulents as she seduces Cem.
