Once upon a time a rich madman lived mysteriously among us, with tissue boxes for slippers, fingernails as long as sabers, and a home on the top floor of a Las Vegas hotel. His name was Howard Hughes, and life just isn't as odd without him. When he died there was some controversy because he gave much of his fortune to a loser who once gave Hughes a ride when he was stranded in the desert, and that story is engagingly told in Melvin and Howard (1980), directed by Jonathan Demme. Far more engaging, however, is Mary Steenburgen in her nude debut. She takes it all off in a crowded bar for a T&A-riffic look, a sight worth all of Hughes's riches.
