If it were indeed true that everything that might possibly go wrong will certainly go wrong, then how in the world did such an effective, efficient, and entertaining movie as Murphy’s Law (1986) ever come together? Inveterate hard guy Charles Bronson claims the screen as a tough-headed, longtime big-city detective who’s been played as the patsy in the murder of his ex-wife. Against all odds, Detective Murphy is taken into police custody and charged with the crime. Naturally, being embodied by Charles Bronson, the framed dick busts out of jail, despite being manacled to a trash-talking hoodlum. The cop is in a race against time and pursuing patrolmen. He’ll bring his ex’s murderer to justice if it kills him, and he’ll drag the unwilling hoodlum along with him.
