After renting an Acapulco beach house for the summer, a Mexican photographer and his best friend decide to share a single, beautiful woman for the season. That’s the premise behind Juan Guerrero’s sultry Mexican melodrama Narda o el verano (1970). Explaining that it’s “cheaper” to share just one bikini-clad babe, Jorge and Max settle on a statuesque blonde (Amadee Chabot) named Narda, who happily agrees to indulge in a passionate ménage-à-trois. These things usually end badly, and Jorge and Max’s case is no exception, as the men watch their friendship sour in the process. Guerrero explores the pals’ possible homoerotic motivations, but if that’s the case, they ought to release Chabot back into the dating pool––this blonde’s got a body that doesn’t come around very often.
