A prodigal son squanders his enlightenment in a foolish bid for wealth in the well-observed Italian political drama Questa specie d’amore (1972). Ugo Tognazzi stars as Federico, the son of a well-known leftist activist in Mussolini-ruled Italy. In a fit of rebellion, the boy runs off into the arms of an aristocrat’s daughter, but the plan backfires when he realizes that human goodness is more important than financial gain. Alberto Bevilacqua’s film is a fairly somber affair, but it does feature an appearance from Jean Seberg that will make movie fans breathless. The screen queen stays modest but shows an alluring bit of her slender body in one erotic but short-lived scene.
