Professional jealousy is a rampant problem among the scientific ranks. Competition and resentment are particularly fierce among the DNA manipulators of Hammerhead (2005). One ambitious genetic decoder sets out to fuse the chromosomal blueprint of a shark upon the twined molecules of a human. These ambitions, of course, make the visionary scientist the laughing stock of his conservative contemporaries, a ridicule that is not taken lightly. The mocked and slighted researcher invites his smirking colleagues for a lavish vacation at an exotic getaway. Upon arrival, the esteemed men of science find that escape has been cut off, and they are intended as chum for the mad doctor’s half-shark son. The cross-bred descendent has a voracious appetite for blood and guts, and viewers with similar tastes will be fully sated.
