Named after a real-life CIA mind-control project that existed in the 1950s, Will Keenan’s conspiratorial comedy Operation Midnight Climax (2002) is a cockeyed paean to extreme paranoia. Keenan stars as Will Nitch, a New Yorker who lives in a constant state of agitation because he suspects that shadowy fixtures in the U.S. government are monitoring his every action. Nitch has a plan to build an army of super-sexy female recruits capable of going head to head with Big Brother in a psych-ops war, but first he’s going to need to get them to report to basic training––a midnight bash at his Big Apple pad. Irresistibly ridiculous, Keenan’s film features a memorable performance from would-be femme fatale Andrea Graham. Just because Keenan’s operating on a budget a fraction of the size of Hollywood doesn’t mean that he’s below recruiting boobs worthy of a Bond girl.
