Hey, you got horror in my sci-fi! No, you got sci-fi in my horror! Wait, they taste great together! The hybrid Event Horizon (1997) takes the best of both worlds and makes for an out-of-this-world experience of creepy, futuristic terror. The story follows a rescue mission in deep space to find another ship that went through a black hole and then lost radio contact and all signs of life. In fact, that black hole leads to Hell, and the unlucky rescuers are about to come face to face with the Devil, who possesses their minds. For the captain, that means forever reliving a horrible past in which his partner, Holley Chant, kills herself in the tub by slitting her wrists--at least she doesn't cut those nice jugs she also exposes. A plus in modern sci-fi is the loss of those bulky costumes that used to restrict the crew. Now Kathleen Quinlan and Joely Richardson get to run around deep space in sports bras and tight hot pants. Oh, the future looks bright.
