Nestor Burma may not have the noir visibility of Philip Marlow or Sam Spade, but he’s France’s number une hard-boiled detective. His exploits have been charted in nearly thirty popular novels that follow the bulldog investigator through the moral quagmire of Vichy regime France during and post WWII. But it wasn’t until he starred in a self-titled TV series in 1991 that this character finally lived up to his potential. Burma was on the trail of scores of bad men while his secretary, Hélène, was trying to score with him. Throughout Nestor Burma's ten-year run, the lucky gumshoe got three French tarts to play the role--Geraldine Cotte, Natacha Lindinger, and Jeanne Savary--each more of a baguette pleaser than the next. But what really twirled viewers' berets were the skintillating guest appearances by sexy Euro-trash who excelled at exposing their Euro-cans. No wonder Burma was always hard on the case.
