Where do people go when they die? This question has haunted brilliant and dull minds from the beginning of time, and the eternal imponderable is deep in the center of Lady of the Lake (1998). The common conception is that time, when we are dead, will lose all meaning, that flashbacks will have the same relevance as visions of the future, that the mirror image will be no less alive for being on the inside of the glass. Are dreamed adventures not every bit as real as our waking experiences? We will never know, except perhaps once we are deceased and done. Until then, the answers all lie with the Lady of the Lake.
