A group of German twenty-somethings agonize over romance, infidelity, commitment, and friendship in the television melodrama Unbeständig und kühl (1995). A radio host (Horst-Günter Marx), his sexy and faithful wife (Regula Grauwiller), an ex-flame (Natascha Bub), a fiery waitress (Jasmin Tabatabai), and other figures move in and out of this patchwork ensemble drama, which charts the highs and lows of love and war. Thankfully most of the principals take a pretty casual approach to coupling, with lead actresses Sandra Nettelbeck and Tabatabai switch-hitting during a few scenes of amorous play. Lovely Nicolette Krebitz stays covered up during her bout of same-sex shagging.
