After decades of toying with the possibilities of artificial intelligence, a pair of enterprising scientists unleashes a fully functional pleasure bot onto an unsuspecting public in the NC-17-rated sci-fi softcore Veronica 2030 (1999). Gary Graver’s cult classic describes the carnal chaos that ensues when Veronica (Julia Ann) is accidentally zapped back to the late 1990s, where she manages to procure work as a model for a fetish catalog. In the end the dot.com-boom environment of the late twentieth century proves a boon for Veronica and her inventors, who use it as a base for their android-friendly sexual experiments. Like Star Trek as reimagined by Russ Meyer, Graver’s film offers a bevy of futuristic fetish fun, as Julia Ann, Wendy Davidson, Nikki Fritz, Stephanee La Fleur, and Sandy Wasko lead the way into the future with their fleshy treasures.
