Every marriage is a self-contained war in the battle of the sexes. Indeed, the connubial state is a never-ending conflict from which very few winners ever emerge. A wise man, or perhaps it was a woman, once said that the best that can be hoped for in a mate is a worthy opponent. The man and wife whose domestic strife provides the fatal dramatics of Dead Easy (2004) would each be a match for any of the great villains and villainesses of infamy. The woman cannot have an ill-intentioned dick on the side without her husband taking on an evildoing doll of his own. Malice and acrimony multiply with every spiteful breath this couple takes. Eventually murder seems like a fate that is simultaneously unavoidable and too good for both of them.
