One man’s weakness for women, the coveting of thy neighbor’s exquisite playthings, and the duplicitous depths of corporate espionage combine for the weird, wacky, and wonderful plot of The Seduction of a Nerd (1970). The title dork is a master toymaker who is ruled by an obsession to follow and fixate upon passing foxy women. The flesh-and-blood love objects seem to always remain, unlike his handcrafted toys, just beyond the craftsman’s reach. The panting geek’s talents and vulnerabilities become known to a high-powered lady executive at a national novelty company. The bosomy boss determines to employ all the feminine wiles that money can buy to bring the celibate savant under her wing. Difficulties ensue, and murdering the sap soon comes to seem a more likely resolution than getting him laid.
