It was a brave new world after the craziness of the late ’60s--and the bizarre comedy Cry Uncle! (1971) was determined to turn mainstream moviemaking into a brave nude world. Rotund character actor Alan Garfield (who’d already made a few nudie flicks) bravely steps in to strip down as a private dick who’s always ready to dick his clients. He’s hired by a guy who’s being blackmailed by an old fellow cast member from an ancient porno flick, but that’s about as deep as the plot goes. It’s still a fun curio, though, with actual sex acts and a truly groundbreaking necrophilia scene. And, of course, a lot of tickets were sold thanks to the real live nudity of Maureen Byrnes, Liz Ferroll, Pamela Gruen, Debbi Morgan, Nancy Salmon, and Madeleine Le Roux.
