In the raucous comedy Welcome Home, Roscoe Jenkins (2008), Martin Lawrence plays the title character, a successful talk-show host who has tried to distance himself from his backwoods southern family but has to return to visit them on the occasion of his parents’ fiftieth wedding anniversary. Once he’s home, Roscoe’s family quickly starts knocking the pretensions out of him in episodes of relentless slapstick. There’s not much to slap dick at, though, because all the women remain disappointingly clothed.
