Lifelong friendship has its benefits, but screwing your best buddy’s wife with impunity is not among them. In El Leyton (2002), two pals from birth make their living pulling fish from the sea. The years of capturing finned and scaly creatures side by side should have taught fair and gentle Leyton a pertinent truth about his friend Modesto, the lesson being that in all their angling, the two never once caught the same fish, and to do so could only lead to wayward lust, core betrayal, several sweet nights of savoring sin-spiced skin, and the inevitable specter of murder most disastrous.
