This Oscar nominee is both a delightful comedy of friendship and love as well as a surprisingly critical political drama. Set in 1979 Havana, the story centers on the unlikely friendship between David (Cruz), a shy, straight and lost soul who blindly believes in the righteousness of the Revolution, and Diego (Perugorria), a swishy but intelligent, witty and opinionated gay man. Diego seduces David -- not through sex but by his free-thinking appreciation of life, art and by an effervescent personality. A celebration of individuality in the face of conformity. (Spanish with subtitles)
