Families are the root of all embarrassment. Imagine the burning shame of the “normal” sibling in Howling II: Your Sister Is a Werewolf (1985). The little jokes in the halls at school, the scornful gazes in the neighborhood drugstore, the Halloween pranks and year-round harassment. A kid whose kin has been lycanthropically afflicted really is left with no choice but to pitch in with a band of demon hunters and crisscross America and Europe dispatching marauding packs of hairy hell spawns to the pits from which they crawled.
