There is a magical destination common to the dreams and desires of all young men, and to several of the older ones too. That wished-for, always-sought endpoint is "all the way," and the animal in man lives only for those moments when he is going there. Hence the presumed mass-market appeal of Going All the Way (1997), a movie that takes us where we want to be and goes there in the company of enchanting blonde Amy Locane and simmering brunette Rose McGowan. This movie is actually a look at two mismatched male buddies coming into their pubes during the 1950s, which means that when the pals do finally strip their gals down to their undies, the girls are peeling out of those bulky, old-fashioned panties. Indulge in a pang of prurient nostalgia, reminiscent of the sweet homesick feeling common to every new "all the way" trip we take.
