Filmed in real Spanish castles, The Night of the Werewolf (1980) is a wolfman flick of the old-fashioned Gothic variety, full of candle shadows, creepy crypts, and coursing blood. Paul Naschy plays a romantic soul with a supernaturally nasty body-hair problem; 400 years ago, he and his blood-gulleting girl, Elizabeth Bathory (Julia Saly), bit the dust after biting off more victims than they could chew. Now a pair of graverobbers has revived him, sending him howling back into action in more ways than one. He's got a hankering for hunting by the light of the moon, and he's also got a tasty piece of tail (Azucena Hernández) wanting his tail. Bring on the love bites! Aroooo! Meanwhile, Azucena's friend Silvia Aguilar decides to bring ghoulish Julia and her hungry underlings back to life, and the results are bloody fantastic.
