Samantha Mathis plays a heroin-addicted peepshow dancer infected with HIV. She forms a bond with an odd-looking street urchin (Joseph Gordon-Levitt, the kid from Third Rock From the Sun) who’s also afflicted with the virus. Sam’s nips are covered with tape during her peep numbers, but her hot-pants-clad keister shimmies right nicely. Still, good luck getting turned on: whenever Sam starts steaming up the screen, something happens to remind you that this is an AIDS drama. What’s so Sweet about that, Jane?
