Rich and beautiful Judith Nelson (Holly Hunter) searches for the meaning of life when her physician husband divorces her to marry another doctor in Living Out Loud (1998). Having quit medical school to spend her life taking care of their affairs as a couple, the former hausfrau is in search of distractions in all sizes and shapes. Enter pint-sized elevator operator Pat (Danny DeVito), also soul sick dealing with the death of his daughter. When Pat befriends the jaded Judith, the two carve out a bizarre relationship to help each other to recover from their lost lives.
