A stripper by any other name is still eventually a woman who takes a cool, objective look at the seamy, quasi-legal environment she has landed in. She hitches up her G-string and determines that if her faraway, soul-deep dreams are to have any chance of reaching fruition, she must transfer them from the dank nightclub culture to some cleaner place where the sunshine of decency might nourish their higher aspirations. In The Naked Truth (2003), the exotic exhibitionists are referred to as "shake dancers." The three dark lost angels of this streety urban drama ply their cheek-quaking trade in Atlanta's thug-life dives and yearn for a better life somehow, somewhere, sometime.
