In the French city of Loudun dwells Urbain Grandier, a powerful priest with more charisma and cajones than a modern-day rock god. On the other end of the spectrum lies Cardinal Richelieu, who, in a bid to take over the town, falsely accuses Grandier of bewitching, possessing, and seducing nuns. The Devils (1971), based on the book by Aldous Huxley, is a classic tale of mass hysteria, witch hunting, and finger pointing.
