Based on a pulp romance, Rod Hardy’s made-for-TV period drama Shadows of the Heart (1990) tells of a strong-willed female doctor who seeks work in a rural island community in twentieth-century Australia. Kate (Josephine Byrnes) receives a lukewarm greeting from the locals--while the swarthy Vic (Marcus Graham) takes an immediate liking to her, Vic’s religious brother (Jerome Ehlers) immediately disapproves of the match. As the puritanical priest labors to make life difficult for the feisty redhead, she ignores his objections and happily boffs his brother. Sadly Byrnes wouldn’t allow her own tush to be shown on screen, but body double Jodie McMurray comes admirably to the rescue.
