Isabell Kleefeld’s 2003 TV -movie Königskinder centers on the 18-year-old couple Abel (Adrian Topol) and Merle (Luise Helm), who want to escape their small- town existences by moving to Los Angeles. However, those plans threaten to fall apart when Merle learns that she’s seventeen weeks pregnant (the result of some highly romantic and bush-revealing outdoor sex in a field). Instead of telling their parents the truth, the teenagers go to Hamburg in order to secretly have the baby and then give it away. This works out rather well, but as soon as they’re back at home again Merle starts suffering from depressions...
