As the title already implies, Was nützt die Liebe in Gedanken (2004) is a very poetic little drama that stars the two probably most talented young German actors to date, Daniel Brühl and August Diehl. Set in 1927, it tells the story of the friends Paul and Günther, who travel to the countryside in order to celebrate a big party together with their friends. Things slowly spiral out of control when Paul falls in love with Günther’s only seemingly innocent younger sister, Hilde (Anna Maria Mühe). Although she constantly teases him (with, among other things, some nude skinny dipping), the teenager is actually only interested in playing with men.
