Movie stars seldom arrived with more snarling tough-guy attitude than evinced by New Jersey warbler turned celluloid hard dude Frank Sinatra. Charismatic like a silk-suited Doberman, Sinatra stars as the titular Tony Rome (1967). One part swinging bachelor, another part intrepid, bold, and smart-mouthed private detective, Mr. Rome resides upon a Miami houseboat. When not swigging cocktails or bagging a lean-legged lassie, Tony baby accepts a commission to pursue valuable jewelry stolen from a rich man’s profligate daughter. Hot rocks are distributed all around as Tony Rome navigates that slippery gray area where hard-nosed cops and mob thugs overlap.
