Filmed following the death of Peter Sellers, Curse of the Pink Panther (1983) tries to keep the franchise alive by postulating that Inspector Clouseau (Sellers) has mysteriously disappeared. A call goes out for the world’s second-best detective to be hired to find Clouseau, but a computer snafu leads the terminally inept Clifton Sleigh (Ted Wass) to be hired for the job. Sleigh’s too inefficient to find his own two feet, but he does manage to stumble upon buxom Joanna Lumley, who rises from a mud bath to show viewers something delightfully dirty.
