Alternately titled Happy As Larry, David Blair’s Irish comedy Mystics (2002) follows the exploits of a pair of vaudeville vets who’ve given their talents over to a life of criminal mischief. Milo O’Shea and David Kelly star as Locky and Dave, two over-the-hill misfits who make their drinking money by pretending to conjure the spirits of the departed. Things take a darkly sinister turn, however, when a mob boss hires the conmen to communicate with a dead partner whose grand plans for a multi-million-dollar heist were never realized. Mystics is a man’s game, but a scintillating appearance by Eva Birthistle will leave viewers wanting to kiss more than the Blarney Stone.
