François Leterrier’s Good-bye, Emmanuelle (1977), the third film in a trilogy, nicely wraps up the first wave of a film franchise that showed how to make softcore sex sophisticated. Sylvia Kristel returns as the sexually adventurous Emmanuelle, searching for sex wherever she can find it. When her architect husband (Umberto Orsini) isn’t dishing it out, the sexy nympho turns to her foxy seamstress, a smutty film director, and other naughty targets. Kristel continues to carve a name for herself in the sexploitation hall-of-fame by showing off every inch of her luscious frame, even coaxing co-stars Charlotte Alexandra, Radiah Frye, and Caroline Laurence to get in on the fun. The Emmanuelle trilogy went on to spawn countless knock-offs, but it never got better than the knockers on display here.
