A pair of ambitious Chinese expatriates try their hands at life in Toronto circa the 1980s in the multicultural drama Chinese Chocolate (1996). Sweetly naïve student Jesse (Diana Peng Tan) and her jaded, emotionally scarred friend Camille (Yan Cui) navigate through the busy streets of Canada’s most cosmopolitan city, faring poorly with the opposite sex. Happily they solve that snag by delving into an erotic relationship with one another, and it isn’t long before the lingerie falls to the floor. Supporting actress Andrea Parks also makes a deliciously fleshy splash as a topless dancer.
