Review
The chilly metropolis of Helsinki, Finland, is a natural setting for a tale of post-Cold War intrigue, a locale taken full advantage of by Spy Games (1999). Since laughter, particularly when elicited by sex comedy, is a better warming force than drama, Spy Games is liberally sprinkled with light gags and sauna flirtations. Bill Pullman pulls his most fetching straight face as a CIA op, and French-bred sweetmeat Irčne Jacob is an enticing blend of bluster and fluster as Pullman’s KGB counterpart. The sparks of romance are never far from the screen when these two agents share a scene.
