A new growth hormone proves to be unusually effective when it’s used on rats, leading to an invasion of giant rat-head puppets gnawing on the local citizenry. At least the original Food of the Gods (1976) could claim that the title was influenced by H.G. Wells. The only classical reference in the fun sequel Gnaw - Food of the Gods, Part 2 (1989) is the classically gratuitous titties of actress Kimberly Dickson.
