Chaucer’s Canterbury Tales were undoubtedly bawdy, but there’s little doubt that the fourteenth century bard would be spinning in his Westminster Abbey grave if he ever set his eye on Canterbury proibito (1972), a delightful perversion of his literary masterpiece. Even modern viewers will have a hard time picking their chins up off the floor after seeing the amount of skin that director Italo Alfaro peppers these ignoble tales with. From ménages à trois to outdoor dalliances, actresses Femi Benussi, Magda Konopka, Rosemarie Lindt, and Carla Mancini can’t seem to get a handle on their carnal impulses.
