A no-nonsense female fugitive attempts to smuggle a stash of cocaine cross-country inside the corpse of a man she claims is her brother in the darkly quirky Canadian indie Highway 61 (1991). Jackie (Valerie Buhagiar) plans to maneuver her Ford Galaxie 500 through hundreds of miles of cornfields and rolling prairies, which is why she’s got a dim-witted busker (Don McKellar) along to keep her company. Along the way, the odd couple falls prey to a series of twisted misadventures, discovering that there’s some offbeat chemistry between them. The free-spirited Buhagiar never strips, but she does show some tantalizing curves en route.
