When Victor runs away from his neglectful parents in Victor...pendant qu'il est trop tard (1998), he finds himself at the traveling carnival, where rakish Mick befriends him and introduces him to Triche, his sometimes lover, prostitute, and friend. A bond develops between young Victor and Triche, and it seems that he has found the mother he never knew. That is, until the other members of the carnival choose to complicate matters.
