From famed German director Rainer Werner Fassbinder comes Der Händler der vier Jahreszeiten (1972), an ultra-gritty, reality-based drama about love, life, and family. The story is based around Hans Epp, a man who has just returned from the Foreign Legion. Rather than be met with open arms, he is informed by both his mother and his wife that he is a loser and that each would be happier if he had died in combat. It goes downhill from there. We do get to see Irm Hermann’s flapjacks as she enthusiastically grinds atop her man.
