Laurel Canyon (2002) is a twisted road in Los Angeles where hippie chicks preaching free love still raise their freak flags. One such old lady is Frances McDormand, who plays a record producer trying to get her next-big-thing English combo to lay down some heavy riffing in her studio/house. When she flashes her pebbles, the band finally rocks out. Christian Bale, as her straight-laced son, and Kate Beckinsale, as his even more conservative fiancée, arrive home for a culture clash. While Christian Bales on his mom's hedonistic lifestyle, Kate is seduced by it and ends up stripping, skinny dipping, and even getting down with Frances, yet somehow manages never to show her dirty bits onscreen. Bale, interning at a psycho ward, has the nymphomaniac Gina Doctor naked in front of him but plays it cool. But he gets hot and bothered by fellow doctor Natascha McElhone. Unfortunately, she keeps her hospital gown on. Still, this movie deserves a Laurel in your pants.
