The female vocation of administering to the well-being of stricken men is an intricate and exacting science. Some tasks in male caring, such as emptying bedpans and tying tourniquets, must be taught. Other acts of ameliorating succor are instinctual feminine knowledge, but even a natural-born sexual healer can benefit from focused schooling, which accounts for the enrollment of four sensuous sisters of mercy in The Student Nurses (1970). Extracurricular carnality is a given in the exploitation genre comfortably inhabited by The Student Nurses, but the unexpectedly challenging course work also includes tenderly rendered romantic drama and poignant social commentary.
