In the deliciously jet-black Italian comedy La Dottoressa preferisce i marinai (1981), romantic affairs and murders are everyday occurrences. Michele Massimo Tarantini’s film is set in a bustling hotel where a would-be-suicide (Renzo Montagnani) fails miserably in his bid to off himself, a hitman clumsily pulls the trigger in front of window-washing witnesses (Alvaro Vitali and Gianni Ciardo), and a suspicious wife catches her cheating husband mid-boff. Tarantini captures all of the dynamic action with a furiously moving camera that stops long enough to settle on co-starlet Paola Senatore’s gloriously bare bod.
