When they say he's a Bad Lieutenant (1992), that's not bad as in good. The lieutenant, played with over-the-top intensity by Harvey Keitel, is no Joe Friday; he's more Black Friday—a crooked, alcoholic, masturbating, crack-smoking hellion. And he's put on one of history's most foul cases: that of a nun raped on the altar. Worse, she knows who did it and won't say because she forgives him. That blows this loony lieutenant's feeble noodle. The fact that Frankie Thorn, playing the nun, shows off her holy, habit-less body, adds to Keitel's conflicting emotions. He needs to let off some steam, and Victoria Bastel getting banged by another girl does the trick, at least momentarily. Nothing's going to save this bad lieutenant from his sins, but we all get to enjoy the view on his wicked way.
