Made in the years when high-profile AIDS cases were making risky sex big news, the made-for-cable sci-fi feature Daybreak (1993) tells of a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by STDs. The situation has grown so dire, in fact, that a reverse quarantine has been implemented to protect the uninfected. As survivors huddle in special camps, paid mercenaries are dispatched to ensure that no infected persons can break through the bubble. Overtly political in its commentary, Stephen Tolkin’s film also boasts some lowbrow pleasures. Case in point: Moira Kelly, who shows off her glorious curves while screwing free from harm.
