Cameron Crowe’s epochal comedic drama Singles (1992) follows the romantic ups and downs of a group of Seattle twenty-somethings. Bridget Fonda pines after grunge rocker Matt Dillon, who barely seems to notice her. Campbell Scott and Kyra Sedgwick are two people who had given up on dating before they met each other, and Sheila Kelley is a desperate single trying to find a mate through video dating. All the action is set against the grunge explosion of the early 1990s, and Alice in Chains and Soundgarden appear as themselves. There’s no nudity here, but you can see Ms. Kelley covering her melons with her hands in the shower. Why so shy, Sheila?
