It’s no coincidence that the words vengeance and vendetta both come from Latin roots and that Roman icon Sophia Loren is the ample presence filling the lead role in Jury of One (1974). The Italians are also fond of saying that revenge is a dish best served cold, but that aphorism is just so much hot air when the sword of justifiable rage is placed within reach of an avenging angel forged in the heated mold of simmering, steaming Sophia Loren. Loren’s rage burns for the sake of all women who have been abused and discarded anywhere, not just the sexed and slain starlet at the heart of Jury of One.
