Review
Two Degrees is yet another entry into the “Ghetto Drug Runner Falls for Big Boss’ Girlfriend and Decides to Rip Him Off” sub-sub-genre written and directed by first-timer Tony Spires, who not only demonstrates his inability to get past stilted dialogue and poor pacing but also manages to show, with a supporting role as “Billy,” that he is also incapable of acting. He probably can’t even pee straight.
The protagonist of the story is “Terry,” (William L. Johnson; The Playaz Court, Nikita Blues) who is running drugs for kingpin “Wes” (D.C. Curry; Next Friday, Friday After Next) who just-so-happens to be responsible (through the corrupt cops in his back pocket…) for the murder of Terry’s nephews. Or something generally like that.
The major complication comes when Terry falls for “Jazzy” (Yvette Ward, who has quite understandably from this outing, never been in anything else…), Wes’ girlfriend. They conspire to steal some money from Wes to “get him back” for something or other while at the same time freeing themselves from the stain of ghetto thug life.
The ending is quite predictable (gee, who would have ever guessed that Jazzy knew more than she let on but would, in the end, fall for Terry?) although the only reason I even saw the ending was because I had to for the purposes of this review. The movie is just that bad. It’s almost like a group of druggie pals decided to make a movie glamorizing their way of life but had nothing original to say, so they took an overdone premise and ran with it. Just not that far. In fact, that’s probably exactly what happened, dare I say it. This movie is awful.
F-
Nudity Report: None, although a bit of Skin would have helped a touch… Ward got down to her skivvies in a couple of scenes but it’s nothing to write home about.
Critics’ Vote: CultureDose.com gave it 1/5 stars.
IMDb Summary: Seven people, six of whom were probably cast members, gave it 5.1/10.
DVD Info: Full Screen Pan & Scan, trailer, stars’ filmographies, Dolby Digital 5.1 Surround… Pretty standard stuff…
